Celebrate Each Day

Hi everyone,

Hope you had a fun and restful weekend. This comes at the end of a busy Monday and a weekend where I had a great time with good friends of mine, having lunch and watching Harry Potter movies.
Oh and I saw my little cousin which is always wonderful!

And you realise that the little things in this world are the most beautiful and how important it is to celebrate each and every day. Even the mundane days where you can't find the top you wanted to wear or when everything seems to be going wrong. Even the quiet moments, like those that I had this evening, watching a cat in my garden and it coming over and meowing at me circling my legs, or watching documentaries. So I may not be scaling Kilimanjaro at this point in time. But as long as we connect every day to beauty and to realise how happy and grateful we are for things in our lives... to celebrate life.

On a different note, I also want to say thanks to the very lovely Alli at Reasons To Smile for recommending my blog in her blog award post. Alli's blog makes for wonderful reading. Thanks! :)

What are you happy for today?

Happiness Wednesdays...

Dear friends,

I have decided to start a new series on my blog called 'Happiness Wednesdays'. This will be a little communication between me and you, as to what tips you have for good emotional health! I will be sharing mine each week (or as often as I can on a Wednesday) and I'd love to hear your feedback.

Last week I talked about writing down 3 positives in your day in order to refocus your mind on optimism. It gives a little boost to your day.

This week I am going to discuss fear. Susan Jeffers says,

'The Green Light of Fear:

Retrain your thinking so you interpret your inappropriate fears as a green light to move ahead- an opportunity to grow and live life more fully- instead of as a signal to retreat'.

Being a person who suffers with a lot of fear in my life, I love this positive aspect to it. Fear should equal growth and thats what I am trying to do in my own life.

Has anyone managed to achieve this in their lives? Has there been a time when you used fear in a positive way to enhance rather than restrict your life?

With lots of love and hope you are excited about this new series,

El xo

Dear friends, an Ode to Happiness....

Dear friends,

I must confess that lately I have not been at my happiest. In fact, these past few months have been very difficult. I am only telling you this because I want to show you what I have learnt. And to wish you a happy, sunshiney weekend.

Happiness can be elusive... but I have found that through a positive attitude, creativity, friendship and love one can do anything. So here are my tips for happiness:

1.  SMILE!
It sounds so simple but sometimes even when you dont feel like it, turn your mouth into a big smile. This releases chemicals (seretonin) in your brain which makes you feel instantly happier. Plus it brings others joy to see you smiling.

2.  Do something fun and different- that you are passionate about.

Live your passions. Go out for a walk and enjoy nature. See friends and do something you wouldnt normally do. Go to the theatre, cinema, listen to new music. Watch a documentary. Paint. Garden. Cook. Learn to sew. Make greeting cards.   Remember that life is short- and should be enjoyed. So be creative!

3. Spread LOVE. That doesnt have to be romantic love, that can be giving. It can be listening to others, supporting others, raising money for charity, campaigning for justice..... anything. Tell your friends and family you love them and inspire others to love.

4.  Act 'as if'. Act as if you are happy and you will feel happier. The brain can't tell the difference between reality and imagination at times. So act as if, and your body will react!!

What I have learnt mostly is that happiness is feeling happy with yourself. This is harder to be learned. But on this journey through life, we can learn to heal our souls and minds and spread love to others too.

Have a wonderful weekend everyone,

El xxxx
